- Friday - outdoor practice at Nike turf field from 5-7 pm in full gear. Dress for the weather and lights will automatically turn off at 7:00 pm.
Thank you for being flexible this early in the season. Our fields are not in playable condition yet. Only one of the 2 garden plot fields is available this year and we are working with the girls' team to determine who will use it. We have also secured at least one field at Madison Jr. High, but we have not yet determined who will be practicing their yet. Madison will be our home field for games not scheduled in the stadium. Our field situation is changing (and improving) each day and this is why we are on the Nike turf field at the end of this week.
Coaching update
We interviewed and extended an offer to Naperville North graduate, Michael Werschulz, to coach our Freshman/Sophomore team. He's currently shadowing Coach Nehra and will be starting the District 203 hiring/screening process today. If you see him around, please welcome him to the team. Also, Rob Hankins from the Naperville area Young Life program will be joining us as an assistant coach as well this season and we welcome him to our program.
Saturday, March 3rd - College Lacrosse
Don't forget the Aurora University vs Wooster University lacrosse game at Aurora University at 1:00 pm this Saturday, March 3rd. Come see 3 of our seniors from last year as well as other players from Chicago area high schools. This is an optional event and transportation is on your own. Wear your Redhawks spiritwear to the game. I believe admission is free as well.
Also, don't forgot you can start watching college lacrosse games on ESPNU, ESPN3 (internet), and occasionally ESPN from now through Memorial Day. The schedule is at http://www.inlaxwetrust.com/2012/1/23/2727924/ncaa-and-espn-announce-college-lacrosse-schedule
Game Schedule
At this point, the game schedule for each team is pretty much completed. A lot of changes have occurred in the past 2 weeks, but it's finally settling down now that we know where all our home games will be played. From today forward, if there are any game changes (dates, times, locations), they'll be communicated in an email to highlight the change. This means that once you know what team you or your son is on, you can update your family calendar with the game schedule. Each team has at least 17 games and is playing in at least one tournament this year.
Still room for more players
There is still plenty of room for additional players in our program. So when you hear that someone didn't make a spring sport team, please let them know that the lacrosse team wants them !! No experience necessary. Please direct them to the Registration page on our website (www.redhawkslacrosse.org) or to Carol Abrams (630-428-1638).
Referees needed
Last call if you are interested in learning to referee boys lacrosse. Our lacrosse program has two fathers who will be refereeing other school's games during the spring season. There is a 2-day training class at College of DuPage this weekend (March 3 & 4th) from 9-3 each day followed by "on the field training" on March 17th. If interested, see the Great Lakes Lacrosse Officials Association training page at http://glloa.com/Page.asp?n=36216&snid=jMI%40%5D6N3%5C&org=glloa.com and give Gary Denklau a call at 630-267-9884 if you have any questions.

Feb 9 - NCHS LAX News
Lacrosse equipment for our troops
A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who donated equipment, money, and/or their time towards shipping 37 boxes of lacrosse equipment to our troops in Afghanistan. Over 30 of our players plus many of our coaches and parents joined New Wave players, parents, and coaches and Benedictine lacrosse head coach Jason Farrell on Saturday, February 4th at the Naperville Post Office to box, package, and ship everything overseas. See the articles below to see pictures and more details:

Registration Reminder and Thank You
THANK YOU to everyone who has turned in their registration forms and payment on time. We believe there are a few stragglers, so please get everything to Carol Abrams as quickly as possible. If you don't have everything ready yet, get as much to her as possible so she can start processing it. As of Tuesday night, we have 59 players signed up this year. We are slightly down from last year, so push your friends to come out and play lacrosse with you. No experience necessary, especially at the Freshman and Sophomore level. Just a desire to play and to be a part of something special this year !!
Last call for shooting shirts
Get your reservations in ASAP. We'll order a few extra, but if you want to guarantee that you get one, please reply to the email with Name and Size. Checks can be turned in on Feb 27 practice or mailed to Gary Denklau, 2127 Riverlea Cir, Naperville 60565.
Time to collect our lacrosse goals
If you have a COLLAPSIBLE lacrosse goal at your home from the team, please bring it to the first practice on Feb 27th and give it to Coach Hurst. We'll need those for our outdoor practices starting that week. If you have any other goals from the team, please hold onto them and we'll let you know when they can be delivered to the "garden plot" practice field in March.
Hold the Date - SATURDAY, MARCH 3rd
This will be a team outing at Aurora University to watch them play the Wooster (Ohio) Fighting Scots lacrosse team. Three of our seniors from last year will be on the field - Danny Loyall and Tony Stawiarski for Aurora and Max Rubin for Wooster. Game starts at 1:00 pm and will be a great opportunity to see Division III (D3) lacrosse in our area.

Jan 14 - LAX Equipment for U.S. Troops
Coach Hurst has been in contact with one of his previous Neuqua Valley lacrosse players, 2LT A. Carter, who is now serving in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. While he can’t specifically say where he is or what he is doing, he does tell us that he is standing up a base in "the middle of no where", busy working on multiple jobs at a time, and operating with Special Forces, which is exciting for him.
2LT Carter is thrilled for Coach Hurst to be coaching for us this year and wishes all our teams the best. Some of the members of 2LT Carter’s squad are also interested in lacrosse, but don’t have any equipment with them. As a way to help, we’ll be collecting old sticks, lacrosse balls, gloves, etc. the next two weeks to send to Afghanistan. Just drop off items at the Denklau's at 2127 Riverlea Circle, Naperville (in Naper Carriage Hill subdivision).
Remember that our own Jack Hennessy Award, given to a senior lacrosse player each year for outstanding leadership and sportsmanship, is named after U. S. Army Sergeant and former NCHS boys lacrosse player who was killed in Baghdad, Iraq in October, 2004.
Let’s collect some unused equipment to support our troops and expand the sport of lacrosse over seas. Thank you.
Dec 15 - Varsity Head Coach announced
We are excited to announce that Tim Hurst has accepted the Varsity Head Coach position for NCHS Boys Lacrosse. Coach Tim has previously coached at Neuqua Valley and Benet Academy (where he won a state championship in 2008) and is currently coaching the New Wave Lacrosse 15 and under travel team. Joining Tim on the coaching staff is Ned Thompson (who has coached with NCHS in the past) and Jim Coakley.
